Drum Camp 2 - 7/18-7/22

Greetings Drum Line,

   I hope you've had a good summer. Drum Camp 2 is right around the corner and here's the information - You will need the following:  

• Sticks/Mallets - see below
• red t-shirt (MON./THURS.), black t-shirt (TUES./FRI.) and gray t-shirt (WED.)  PLAIN - NO LOGOS, etc.
•  athletic/running shoes  
• water bottle

Stick/Mallet List (Innovative Percussion)
 These items are available for purchase @ The Band Room in Harker Heights as well as other resources.

• Snare Drum: FS-PR (1 pair), Stick Bag SB1 (1)
• Tenors: FT-1 (1 Pair), TS-1 (1 pair), Stick Bag - SB2 (1)
• Bass Drum: FBX1 (1 pair) Drum 1, FBX2 (1 pair) Drum 2, FBX3 (1 pair) Drum 3, FBX4 (1 pair) Drum 4
• Marimba: IP 1002 (1 pair), IP1003 (1 pair)
• Vibraphone: IP 2005 (1 pair), IP 2006 (1 pair)
• Timpani: CT4 (1 pair), CT 6 (1 pair)  

Front Ensemble Members, mallets will be provided for Monday 7/18. Afterwords, you will be expected to purchase your own.

I went to the show last night. Many of the corps have complete shows. Cavaliers were amazing - cool UPSIDE DOWN TENOR SOLO!!! Santa Clara Vanguard drums were sweet! Go check 'em out tonight at The Cinemark in Market Heights - student tickets are only $14!!!

The very first weekend of the 2011 Drum Corps International Tour continues on Sunday, June 19, with a brand new Premier Event featuring the top eight finishers from last year’s World Championships. The Kelly Reeves Athletic Complex in Round Rock, Texas will play host to these top World Class corps as the exciting summer of 2011 gets underway.

There are many exciting things in store for next year's drum line!
Our training for next year begins with DRUM CAMP 1 @ HHHS.
Please bring sticks and mallets. Audition materials/information will be provided.

Happy New Year/First Week Back

Hello and Happy New Year! I hope you've all had a restful break. Our first week back is going to be busy! We will be selecting solo & ensemble pieces, working on scales/arpeggios/rudiments, reviewing concert percussion technique, etc.

Here is the schedule for the week:
Be sure to bring a practice pad, sticks, and mallets daily!
(no borrowing)

Mon. 1/3/11     - select solos/ensembles
                         - prepare during class

Tues. 1/4/11    - Review Scales/Arpeggios: Ab
                        - Rudiment Review: single stroke rudiments 
                       -  Concert Percussion: bass drum
                        - practice solo & ensemble music
                    

Wed. 1/5/11     - Scales/Arpeggios: Db
                        - Rudiment Review: open/closed rolls
                        - Concert Percussion: crash/suspended cymbal(s)
                        - practice solo & ensemble music

Thurs. 1/6/11   - Scales/Arpeggios: Gb
                        - Rudiment Review: flams/drags
                        - practice solo & ensemble music
      
Fri.    1/7/11     - RECITAL (test grade)
